New Fedora LiveCD Issues

I downloaded the new Fedora "Zod" LiveCD yesterday for a friend, just so he can get his feet wet. We tested it out this morning and he had quite a few issues. The first issue is that it lags badly when loading. For example, it will take anywhere between five to ten minutes just to load and start GNOME and it will take just as long to load Firefox. I tested the CD on my newer computer and it loaded perfectly which makes me wonder if Fedora requires a fast CD drive.

If that's the case, can anyone confirm? Are there special commands that I can enter when the CD boots that might help?

His computer is about six years old whereas mine is about two.

He can run Knoppix 5.1.1 with ease, but I wanted to give him something with GNOME just so he can fool around with it.

Thank you.

More than the CD drive, a lot of other changes occurred in that lag of four years. Processor and memory speeds rose pretty dramatically. I'd suggest a more lightweight CD or newer computer. However, if you just want to show him GNOME and Knoppix worked well, give Gnoppix a shot. It's Knoppix with Gnome.

Thanks for that, though it looks like Gnoppix is no longer maintained.

I'm going to give it to him tomorrow and see how it goes.
