I am new to Linux so please forgive me if this is a bozo question.
After numerous failed install attempts via DVD, I was finally able to complete a network installation of Fedora 9. All seemed to be well until I rebooted. At which point, I get past the GRUB(?) menu and then the system hangs after the "security_t tclass=security" message. I tried adding a "selinux=0" option on the boot up string. After this, the system hung sooner after ""VolumeGroup00" now active". Please help!
At this point, I am running on an 933mhz, 1gb RAM, 28Gig internal HD.
Now ... I don't have any experience with FC, but given the
history of trouble you've had with that install I'd be tempted
to suggest hardware issues. Get a version of "system rescue CD"
(or similar) and do a hardware check ... RAM, DMA maybe?
I am a total newbie to Linux (less than a week) and open source and I began my experiments with Fedora and I have to admit its one very cool system.
My problems began with trying to install the Fedora core 9 64 bit version. The anaconda installer identifies my Nvidia Ge Force card perfectly but after that X server begins its work it just halts.
This is odd because I have tried installing FC 8 32 and 64 bit version and they both work fine. The 64 bit also lets me install the latest release of the Nvidia driver with no problems.
This is my computer's hardware configuration. I have a AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core Processor 1.80 GHz, 4 GB DDR RAM, NVidia GeForce 8600 GT Display adapter, Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
I have 933mhz CPU, 1 Gig RAM, 30gb Western Digital HD, and a Liteon DVD Writer.
Where can I get a system rescue disk? Is some other way in Linux that I can perform a test of either all of the hardware components at one time or each component individually?

NessaDot, that hitachi drive tool tests ALL hard drives. I've done pc repair on the side for 8 years and have used it for Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, etc.
Have you tried booting from a rescue cd and disabling SELinux altogether from your current run level? Just google "fedora 9 rescue cd"
