Need a very specific boot disk

Hello to all!

I'm new to linux and I already have a big problem:
I have a old laptop,
Fujitsu/Siemens
Celeron 850
64MB ram
10GB HD
and the thing is that the CD-ROM is completly ruined... Because it has dificulties in reading the CD's, the boot sequence doesn't recognize any CD. So... Let's assume I have a computer with no CD-ROM.
I have 2 partitions: 5GB with Windows 98 () and the other 5 are for fedora
I already copied the Fedora Core 3 ISOs to c:\
What I need is a disk that allows me to mount drive C:\ and install Fedora Core 3 through the ISO's.

Please!
I really need to solve this problem in order to my laptop become usefull :P and please, pretty please, explain to me in very lamme therms. I couldn't restore grub... I installed FC3 all over again :S

Thank's in advance

I did a quick google, and came up with this link. It allows you to do a network install (is that an option for you). With a little tweaking, it should also be possible to install from an iso on c:, but that would be more difficult than the network install :-)

Can you please explain where you get stuck?

Also, as this is very Fedora Specific (and not very newbeeish), I suggest moving this thread to the Fedora forum.

Good luck,

Kees-Jan

You need to do a "kernel loopback installation". Basically, you will boot using a bootdisk. This will create a full linux system in a RAM Drive. Then mount the ISO using the kernel loopback device like this:
Code:
mkdir /install
mount -t loop /path/to/iso /install
Then run the installation scripts from the mounted ISO. This link might help as well: http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/archive...p/t-53953.html
