Nautilus: Unlocking Subfolder and Files

How do I unlock not only folders but everything subordinate (including files and folders)? Can I do this without individually opening every folder and unlocking its contents?

What do you mean by "unlock" ? If you are speaking about permissions (rwx), I did not find the way to do it using the GUI.
You can do it using a shell with the command : chmod xxx -R /your_directory.
Please replace xxx by the right you want , and specify the exact PATH of your directory (absolute path) so you will not make mistakes.
-R = recursive
