mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed...

Hi everybody

I cannot connect to local host. I get the following error:

mysq error 1045 (2800) access denied for user root@localhost (using passwro password: NO)

I read that it is problably because I need to create a user and a password , however, when I type the following command it also gives me the same error:

mysqladmin -u root -p password

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

BR

continuing problems with mysql - unable to access

Hi Eiv,

When I try to access the mysql I do so through the console, I guess that is the command line right?

so when I type mysql with and without password it does not let me in. That is;

mysqp -p (this does not work)

If I try to assign a user name and a password with the following command it does not let me either.

mysqladmin -u root -password (does not work either)

mysq error 1045 (2800) access denied for user root@localhost (using passwro password: NO)

In all instances I keep getting the error above. Is there another way to access mysql? Am I really using the command line when I click console and a shell prompt pops up?

BR,

problem fixed

Hi there,

I finally fixed the problem by re-installing the whole distribution. It seems I messed up with the user profiles and then something might have happened in the process. However the problem is fixed.

Thank you for the help,

Bluetxxth
