mysql problems with fc3.

I have recently upgraded to fc3, and decided to install mysql (so I can install apache along with php afterwards). But I ran in some trouble.

Been trouble shooting for awhile and came up with nothing (tried removing the mysql from the sys link area, rebooting, restarting using /etc/init.d/mysqld start and even the service menu.

Version:
FC3
mysql-server-3.23.58-13
KDE3.3

Installed via yum (yum install mysql-server).

my.cnf:
Quote:
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib

[safe_mysqld]
err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid

Error via services menu and command line:
mysqld dead but subsys locked

Error log:
Quote:
# tail /var/log/mysqld.log

041219 21:46:31 mysqld started
041219 21:46:31 mysqld ended

041219 21:49:26 mysqld started
041219 21:49:26 mysqld ended

041219 21:55:24 mysqld started
041219 21:55:24 mysqld ended
Thanks .

What trouble? You didn't describe your problems. And you didn't quote any error messages either.

Actually I posted the error about the mysqld dead but subsys locked, posted error logs showing mysqld shutting down right after startup command and mysql failing.

No help is needed with this problem though, fixed by upgrading to a new mysql version and removing traces of the old one.

mysqld dead but subsys locked

clicky clicky searchy searchy . . .

Problem Resolution -for some?

More resolution . . .

This worked on my system too after upgrading mysql. Seems it was something with selinux. Still, I'm a newbie so, if this resolution poses security issues...paleez let me know.

Hope this helps...
