my modem dials on start up... help

MY modem dials when I start my Fedora box. May be this cause by checking the "activate when computer starts" option on the network configuration window. How do I remove that? I have tried to turn off my modem and unplug the serial connector to the PC. When I do those, Fedora wont load or hang anymore.

Thanks for the helps that you will give!

Never used Fedora so I don't know if there's a funky configuration thing that you can use to do this, so I'll go through the 'hard' way

Two ways:
1)Open a console
See if the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/net_cnx_up exists.
If so, then hange to the user root and remove it.

2)Open a console
Enter the directory /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
See if SXXinternet exists (the XX is actually a number)
If so, change to the user root and unlink it.

It shouldn't matter which method you use since the SXXinternet link calls a script that checks to see if the net_cnx_up file exists, and if it does, runs another script. So, either unlinking SXXinternet or removing the net_cnx_up file should have the desired effect.

HTH

There is a lot more easier way, which was go type "neat" in your terminal which will brings the Fedora's Network utility.
you could see there is a modem connection, when you double click on it, a window should pop-up then you should see a option says dial on startup. uncheck it will solve the problem.
