music player problems

forda core 6, want to play my music, when i double click on music icon, noutorun starts music and no application icon pop-up showing, can't shut off. do not know what application is running music. the only way to stop music is to log out of kde.

if i only use kaffine then i can shut off the music.

Here are instructions for installing amarok, you don't have to, but check the web page link to see if you have everything set up right with what you have.

Installing powerful multimedia suite amarok.

First, make sure you have livna and freshrpms installed as repositories. (http://rpm.livna.org/configuration.html) & (http://freshrpms.net/ ), follow instructions within to set them up as repositories. Click "click here" on freshrpms page.

Now follow instructions for amarok on this web-page:

Sry, you mean noatun starts? If you got a KDE app misconfiguration problem just remove that app's config file that is under ~/.kde/share/config. Btw, logging out is not the only way to shutdown an app Try 'ps -A' in console emulator. It will show you all processes currently running in the system with appropriate Process ID numbers. To terminate a process (say, noatun) type 'kill process-id-number'. The program would terminate the way it wants. If that doesn't work (the program hungs) type 'kill -kill process-id-number' or 'kill -9 process-id-number' which is the same. It would send a 'kill' signal (no. 9) to the program and it would be terminated forcibly. To find out more about kill, type 'man kill', about ps - 'man ps'. Of course you can use their graphical front-ends such as K System Guard

Of course, it regenerates default config Does noatun work as expected now? Or maybe you want other program to play your files on doubleclicking? Then right-click on your file->Open with->Choose program(or so). Choose the player from tree or type its name and mark the option 'Associate with this file type' or 'Always open blah blah...' or so
