MP3 Plugin for FC4

I just recently used YUM to download and install XMMS so I can play MP3's from my backup partition. To my surprise when I started up XMMS and tried to play an MP3 it said that it wasn't supported. Where can I get the plugin so I can play mp3's on my linux box.

I use synaptic for my package manager but you can either try
Code:
yum install xmms-mp3
or get the rpm from
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/xmms/

no luck with yum install xmms-mp3

no packages out there.

I tried to get the RPM but it is of the .src.rpm type and I don't know how to compile it and run it. I've tried with no success.

Just so you know, you still need the xmms package. So if you remove the one you have, there will be 2 rpms to install.

Hmm...I downloaded the link you gave here and ran the install, it builds all of the items, even asks to download but as soon as I do, this is the message I get:

Code:
warning: rpmts_hdrFromFdno: V3 dsa signature: NOKEY, key ID:6b8d79e6

public key not available for xmms-mp3.rpm
Any ideas? I come from a Slack world and so this whole yum and packaging system is weird. Any help would be most appreciated.

Did it install? I'm no expert but, that doesn't look like an error with the installation. It just looks like a warning to me.

Somehow I think it is still not working. When I go to xmms>options>preferences>plugins>

It lists a an mpeg layer 1/2/3 placeholder file but when I open an mp3 to play a song it just sits there as if it is going to play but does nothing. If you hit the play button it opens a new window asking what. I click on any of the mp3s and it does the same thing, open and show you the player but nothing is moving nor is there any sounds. No errors though.

http://rpm.livna.org offers

* xmms-mp3
* gstreamer-plugins-mp3
* k3b-mp3
* kdemultimedia-extras (mp3 for KDE)

and probably more mp3 related ad-ons.
