Mounting CD DVD Rom in Rescue Mode

Can someone explain in detail how to mount a CD DVD burner in rescue mode and then copy a file to the cd media.

Explain in more detail please. Normally one cannot not to the same media that is mounted and if the media is as you state a DVD-ROM then this is not possible in any case.

What exactly is the issue?? Do you have only one CD/DVD drive??? No USB memory???

I have a file called boot.lnx on my C:\ that I would like to copy to a cd and move to another computer. I've done this to floppy disk but never to a cd. I hope this helps.

Sorry no it does not help. the file is on your Windows partition and can be transfered to CD/DVD media without the use of "rescue mode". It is small enough to fit on a floppy if this is the same boot.lnx file that I'm thinking about.

If you are speaking of the Windows 'rescue mode' then, no I do not know of a way. But I do know a way using two CD/DVD drives one a writable booting into rescue mode with the Red Hat family.

One can always use a DOS boot floppy with readntfs from here;
