modem not loading
greetings
I am running Fedora4 and trying to set up an exteral Robotics modem. The modem dosn`t seem to load in fedora but does under windows and Libranet, both of which set it up correctly. Libranet has set it up under sttyS0. Kudzu is running. Here is a copy of lspci to see if anyone can get a clue [root@localhost ~]# lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. My guess is the installed winmodem is causing the problem. I use an external modem and it doesn't appear in my lspci file. Try taking the winmodem out.

Thanks for the reply. I have removed the winmodem and tried that, but no luck. Strangest is Libranet finding and installing the modem no problem, I am sure if I knew where to look there I could find a clue

I used an external modem with Fedora 2 with no problems. It will be either ttys0 or ttys1.Did you configure the network settings manually?

greetings
The point is that the modem is not being found, i.e. it is not in the hardware broswer and (although com 1 in XP and ttyS0 in librabet) not ttyS0 or any of the listed devices will open the modem. Creznedmick |
