My account and access was restored approximately 5 minutes ago.
Just in time to watch the Royals put a run on the board. Hochevar did an awesome job pitching 7.2 innings of scoreless ball. Pass the ball to Soria for a 4 out save and we might get our first win of the season.
If your account is still not restored, have your escalation ticket include "mlbviewer user, developer has provided a fix" If you're still out of luck in the morning, shoot me an email and I'll have my techie guy intervene on your behalf.
I can't even access mlb.com, seems like that just happened... What do you mean about the escalation ticket? Call again and explain the situation?
Pretty sure my account is ok, but I'm getting this when trying to connect to a live stream...
latest svn from mplayer, rtmpdump, and mlbviewer. all python tools installed as well with easy_install. This is on Fedora 12.
Out of time tonight.
Please read the README under TEST TOOLS.
Specifically, run a command like the following:
Code:
$ test/soapevent.py <event-id> | tee /tmp/mlb.log
The event-id is the E: number in the output of mlblistings.py.
Take that mlb.log file and post the contents to pastebin.com and send me the pastebin url. Either I can look at it late tonight or someone else here might be able to help you.
OK, I'll stick with that script for the time being. On a related note (I understand you're busy right now so don't sweat it), but do you know if there's a way to start at the beginning of a game that's in progress using the script as I mentioned?
I just started the game I wanted to watch in the 8th inning, and while the score wasn't a surprise I would have preferred to watch it develop.
Thanks,
Matt
Not without nexdef. Be patient. I'll have that restored soon.
well, they said my 'case is being observed' and I added the mlbviewer and the fix to the support ticket. waiting game I guess now, I can't even check the website at this point
It's all good. They pulled through in the end. Would have been nice if Hoch had a win to show for it. Hopefully we'll see this Hoch more often this season. That would be sick to have a one two punch of hoch and greinke every five games. Hopefully duffy will be back and all that. Such is the life of a royals fan. Eternal optimism mixed with frequent heartburn.
Post or email in the morning if your account access is still not restored.
Have you guys seen the MLB.TV app on boxee.tv running on Ubuntu? It is absolutely superb. I'm currently watching Marlins@Mets on a 50" TV and the quality is simply stunning.
Hopefully this'll continue to be brilliant (esp. as the NexDef/Flash version on any platform is simply terrible), although I'm a little sad I won't be using mlbviewer this year. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it of course, but from my POV it's been a little dicey for me as my broadband speed is pretty poor (>2Mb) and mplayer kept dropping out.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate all you've done for us baseball fans over the past two seasons, Daftcat.

Boxee uses Flash, though. For those of us without a ton of extra RAM and CPU cycles, Flash isn't an option. I'd much rather watch the 720p 3000kbps stream in it's full VDPAU-accelerated glory.

boxee seems like a cool idea, but I'm having all sorts of problems with the HD feeds on there with buffering and distortion, honestly it works better in my browser than boxee. I have uberfast dsl and a good comp. I'm trying out the regular feeds now and they seem to playing smoother.
in all honestly, there is no comparison between nexdef + mlbviewer and any other method of watching out there... Mplayer is the perfect player for these feeds, and like thoephile said, it's possible with little cpu and resources.
we just have to make sure that program is "ready for primetime" and totally in compliance with mlb's system before using it.
that being said, I owe daftcat big time for getting my account back. I was kinda going through withdrawl without mlb.tv last night... chicago baseball makes me want to
It looks like I have to make a first post before I'm allowed to send a private message about getting my mlb.tv account restored.
So, hi guys! Been a very happy mlbviewer user for the past two seasons.
edit: Nevermind, LinuxQuestions won't allow me to send a private message. daftcat, I sent you a note to straycat000 earlier, but I'm not sure if that's an active email address.

Is it restored now? I got 4 accounts restored today. I'm not sure if you were one of the four. If you emailed straycat000(at)yahoo(dot)com, then it should be working by now. I'll check my spam box just in case any requests landed there.
