Video is / never was garbled for me on VLC in Linux so I can't test it

I haven't tried the top plays, but archived video and live audio work fine for me without the dmo option. You might be right about the picture quality though -- I'll have to compare them side-by-side when I get the chance.

Seems that Moonlight (the Linux version of Silverlight) has been released...anyone try it out for MLB TV yet?

I have the 0.4 version from over a month ago. It works okay for the embedded clips and stuff but (at least that version) doesn't work for the main player page.

I used to travel to Montreal on business and I still kick myself over the one time the Expos were in town AND I was leaving the customer site early enough to catch a game. I decided I wanted to grab some dinner and beer at the pub near the hotel and call it an early night. Arrgh! I'm still kicking myself for not going. I hear it was super-convenient to get to and from the game with the underground going right into the stadium.

I've nearly got the 2007 season supported. One or two more code modifications and you should be able to jump back to your favorite games last year and watch them.

Yep! If the All-Star Game or the World Series aren't coming soon enough for you, you can go back and watch last year's. If you want to pit Lester's no-no against Buchholtz, you should be able to go back and watch both of them.

The biggest difference between last year and this year is 800k this year was 700k last year. I'll make a tweak in the listings code to mask this difference out. The "GUI" however will likely still show 800k.

If you're not subscribed to this thread, you should be. I'll post within a week or so when the 2007 support has been checked into svn.

EDIT: 2006 only supports 350K stream and will likely be supported in a similar fashion to 2007 by masking the configured speed value. 2005 and prior will not be supported.

Okay, so my big motivation for supporting 2007 season was to watch the All-Star Game and the post-season games. My initial testing with the All-Star Game is working as expected.

However, when I select any other game in the regular season, I get this annoying game preview in a loop. If I test it in the Windows browser, I'm getting a completely different stream, e.g. the game stream.

I know someone here had mentioned how to do the 2007 season. How did you guys watch games last year?

If there is a fix for the "annoying loop", I nor Swingley ever figured out how to do it. The only thing he found was by waiting for around an hour the actual game would then start. ( I'm talking about the archived games )

If you moved the slider, it killed the connection instantly. Couldn't seek, so you had to kill an hour roughly off if there was some game you had missed and really wanted to watch in Linux. As you said,it didn't work this way in Windows. The only solution is to watch in Windows as far as I know or put up with an hour of the same pregame blabber over and over and over and over......

The only solution is waiting for the loop to end. It takes from 30 to 60 minutes though.
That's the main reason why I started recording streams last year, so I could seek after loop (I live in Italy and watching live games in the middle of the night isn't good with working and\or studying the day after)

That's odd, I don't think I had any problem watching archived games last year... I guess I must've just used VLC to seek past the bit of the feed with the loop on it (I'm not sure if the loop was there, but I definitely used VLC and seeked past whatever pregame there was).

Haven't tried going back to any 2007 games recently though, not sure if the situation is somehow different now.

2007 Season has been added to mlbviewer.

This code has been added to the svn repository. See the INSTALL or README files for instructions on checking out the latest svn files.

Things to note about 2007 support:

-- Gameday audio hasn't been fully tested. It may work. It may not. Please report any problems.

-- Highest quality stream in 2007 is 700K. I mask this in the backend code and display it correctly in the "gui." Speed toggling between low quality and high quality will work as expected (e.g. between 400K and 700K for 2007 season and between 400 and 800 for 2008 season.)

-- Switching between years, if you are using 800K for the 2008 season, it will be automatically switched to 700K when going from a 2008 listings page to a 2007 listings page.

-- There is a seemingly unavoidable pre-game loop to 2007 games. If you want to watch a 2007 game, I recommend using either vlc which can seek past the pre-game loop, or waiting it out (go do some laundry or re-stock your fridge.)

-- 2007 support was mostly added so I could watch the All-Star game and the post-season while I wait for this year's All-Star game and post-season to arrive (though I'm in no hurry for either to come... ;-)

I recommend updating to this svn code even if you don't intend to watch any 2007 games just to make sure that my changes don't do anything unexpected with 2008 support.
