Hi,
it seems lately that I only try Distro's that have easy methods to edit grub, while running the DIstro, I have used SUSE, they allow you to modify the grub in yast. piece of cake, and another easy one is PC linux you can also edit grub inside that dist, I asked around fedora and the want you to boot up and enter grub and change the boot order to 0+1 I gave up after an hour of trying, I have managed to save the grub to drive B on acouple distro and use that GAG it works pretty good dosen't seem to work with fedora 7 though.
I mentioned how easy it was to edit grub in PC linux and suse and I got shunned , to bad its pretty nice distro, I jut can't erase both drives my wife uses XP all the time.

HI,
I guess it a gripe some distro allow you to edit grub easily other's expect you to edit the grub with code and understand the meaning of you manually enter code.
I wish they would write a simple progam in all linux programs that allow you to edit inside the program will its running that way you can test it before you break it.
SUSE , PC linux understand the ease of grub editing as a admin.
So I guess this is a rant some like it easy others can program that grub.
Doug
MOST distros now automatically set up GRUB for basic configurations, including dual-boot with windows. The only real issues seem to come with non-standard configurations or more than one Linux installed.
Those that are motivated to have several Linuces on their box are also not likely to object to editing the GRUB config file by hand.
This said, it IS nice to see distros like SUSE with GUI mode for configuring GRUB. Have you noticed also that you can shut down SUSE while telling it what to boot next---allows a trip to the coffee pot (or the coffee re-cycling center) while it re-boots.
The original complaint appears to be against Fedora, but Fedora does in fact have the option for GUI editing of the grub configuration, as I indicated. It allows you to change the default grub boot entry and the timeout, which are the most typical modifications made to the grub configuration by a user. If this isn't what you are looking for, can you be more specific?
