making telnet work

I have two FC1 computers networked. The network works fine. On both installations, I chose to 'allow all from eth0' on the firewall setup page. When I try to telnet from either one to the other, I get a "connection refused" message. What do I need to do to allow incoming telnet connections ? and what is telnet -8 ?

Using telnet is very illadvised, I would suggest using ssh instead:

Good enough - ssh works, I'll use that...
