lpd / cups question
Hi
I have never really understood the differences between the CUPS system and LPD based priting system. I am trying to get my printer (Brother MFC-3240C) working in my FC2 laptop. The printer manufacturer has provided a lpd based driver (thru an rpm file). When I install this rpm file, it puts the settings in /etc/printcap.local file. My Fedora installation by default installs CUPS printing system instead of LPD. Is there a way to use this LPD based driver and make it work with CUPS? If not, how do I install LPD system in my machine? yum install lpd doesn't seem to work. Any help would be really appreciated. regards -Anand |
You could try;
http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer...i?make=Brother but I didn't see a MFC3240C so I woud suggest that you look at sommme of the others. I presume that MFC stands for Multi-function color and I fear that your search may be long and hard. But don't give up - I have a Konica-Minolta Magicolor 2300DL which uses foo2zjs driver and an ICM from an extraction of a Windows exe file - weird but it works, on all my vmware linux guests - as listed under my name (left side) using CUPS and ghostscript and the interface is an IP address on my LAN. Sorry I can't be more help |
