Lost Panel Buttons for Running Apps

I'm running Gnome Desktop as standard under Fedora Core 2.

My panel bar no longer shows the buttons for applications that I have open and running. I've tried all the preference/option settings I could find without any luck. How do I get the running app buttons back??

If this helps: I lost the buttons after mucking around with the panel settings. I added the status lights for eth0 connection. After doing that, the panel was all messed up, no clock, no update icon, no buttons for running apps, no volume control.

The other usernames on the system run as before with no problems. So, this appears isolated to my username. If all else fails, I may delete and restore the user... but I figure there is probably an easier way before I go nuclear.

Otherwise... having fun with Fedora!

Right click on the panel - Add to Panel - Utility - Window List.
