Locking a session
Hello all, I have searched around for an answer to this but have yet to find one...if any of you could help that would be great.
What I want to do is lock my desktop with the GDMgreeter (graphical version) WITHOUT activating the screensaver, screen blanking, or the screensaver password...just the GDMgreeter login. this is under Fedora 7 (with Gnome :-) ) I have used GDMFLEXISERVER which shows the greeter for about 5 minutes then activates the screensaver, I have used the fast-user-switching, with the same results. GDMFLEXISERVER --command=xset s off -dpms will return me to the desktop after about 5 minutes saying the screen saver is not enabled. My etc/GDM/Init/default.conf file was modified so that when the system first starts up it will never start the screensaver or DPMS, no matter how long I wait to log in. |
Locking the greeter makes no sense, as it provides no additional security. Just turn off your monitor.
