I'm not sure what you mean by locked. What are the permissions:
ls -l /path/to/mount

Do you get any specific errors?

Well, what I did was install the rpm for ntfs support, then followed the instructions.

When I attempt to access the mount in KDE,it is a picture of the folder with a lock on it and it says I don't have the permissions.

I su m,yself, still won't let me in.

You still haven't told us what the permssions are. Try using a umask of "0222" when you mount the partition.

From the output, only root is able to read from the partition. Do ls -la /mnt and let us know the permission of /mnt/windows .. you may need to chmod 777 it (does it matter? will the mount do this automatically? .. no idea .. may be somebody can highlite on this).

Just to be sure, you can't *write* to an NTFS partition, you can only read it, too. If that's what you mean by "locked", well, uh, then, ask MS to release the NTFS specs, so a true r/w interface can be written....

End Result:

[root@dhcp-140-163 pleiades]# ls -la /mnt
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 May 7 22:14 .
drwxr-xr-x 22 root root 4096 May 7 21:52 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 1 1990 cdrom
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 1 1990 cdrom1
dr-x------ 1 root root 16384 May 5 12:33 windows

Really all I want to do is copy the files to the linux drive, is this possible?

Like we said in posts 4 & 5 just mount that partition with a umask of "0222"
