Well the modules.conf file is confusing. The module I'm trying to load early in the boot process (before rc.sysinit file) is the evdev which is the driver for my touchscreen. I want to be able to load in graphical boot (run level 5), but the screen hangs because I can't load this module early enough. I've tried putting this into the /etc/modules.conf file
alias /dev/input/event* evdev
but it does not load. If I boot in run level 3 and have the line
modprobe evdev in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file, X comes up just fine after I login because the script gets run before I ever enter into anything graphical.
I'm stumped and really don't want to recompile the kernel which is
2.4.22 and have to upgrade to 2.6.3 which I heard is hard to get working with any distro. I really appreciate any help and am thankful for these forums. I do have some other little questions because I'm so used to using Slackware and I know that each distro has its own way of doing certain things.
FOR fedora Core 1:
where is the best place to put my own alias's
where do I change my command prompt (/etc/profile ?? /etc/bashrc ??)
when compiling a 2.6.x kernel, do I have to 'make dep'
