linux won't boot up cause of a comment I accidentally made

I'm using Gnome, Fedora Core 1.

At /etc/inittab, I accidentally commented

# System initialization.
#si::sysinit:/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

The next thing i know after a reboot is, that it hang after find new hardware! How do I change it back?

You could have use the 1st cd of your distro to get into rescue mode Faster than Knowpix download

quite hard to do anything in your linux if it doesn't boot. You could have tried booting in single-user-mode, but I don't think it would have helped.

wow! the solution is so easy. just put in fedora core 1 cd 1.

type "linux rescue"
follow the instructions
at the command prompt type "chroot /mnt/sysimage"

there! you'll get root permission without any password prompted and can modify, copy, delete anything you want.

i think i better set my bios boot sequence to hard drive 1st else anyone with a fedora core 1 cd 1 can boot into my system and do anything
