Linksys Wireless Internet Adapter

I have just installed Fedora Core 2 and am trying to get my Linksys. Wireless-G USB Network Adapter to work. I have no experience in Linux and would appreciate a simple answer if possible. I have a Linksys 802.11g USB Network Adapter with a Wireless G Linksys router. The Model Number on the adapter is WUSB54G. Please respond ASAP.

Hello zedd129,

Firstly, is your card supported on the fedora core 2 list?

If not you will need to use the windows xp driver to make it work. The good news is you card is supported by the open source ndiswrapper project.

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net

I'm afraid if you are new to linux this may be a baptism of fire but it will help you with commands and such. The good news is that 5 days ago I was new to linux and now I havent rebooted to Windows in three days and am writing this on a wireless g connection in firefox from Mandrake 10 (great distro by the way). If you are new you may wish to consider this distro as a slightly easier step into the world of linux than fedora which is really just a test bed for red hat.

Anyway, check out the above link and post back if you have any probs. Make sure you have wireless tools installed as well as the kernel-source files. Make sure you use the link at

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/List

for your card to download the driver.

Regards
Chris

No, my adapter isn't supported by Fedora Core 2.

I have downloaded the driver from the second link you gave me, but I'm not sure else I need to download and do.

Some more help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zedd
