Anyone using Lightscribe from LaCie. I downloaded the RPM from Lacie website, below,

lightscribe-1.4.113.1-linux-2.6-intel.rpm

I installed the RPM in FC6 and had no problems with install, but! The instructions on use
say's the command 4L does everything, but there is no 4L command in this RPM.
anybody use Ligthscribe so far, can give some more info.

You need to download the 4L rpm package, as a suggestion download (for all that may see this thread);

4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm
lightscribe-1.4.113.1-linux-2.6-intel.rpm
LightScribeLabelerLinux_en.pdf

Does Lightscribe run through K3B, and how?

Let's see if we can all learn some stuff here. I have it working, and printed a jpeg onto a disc. I see NO indication that it becomes "part of" K3B. Is there any way to just put text on the disk? I can get up a "paint" program, and input text, save as a jpeg, then lighscribe that, but getting things aligned on the disc in that way is problematical. In the GUI, there are 3 buttons at the left bottom, full content and title. How in the world would one ever get a text graphic to fit that title circle that's offered?
All in all, I'm just happy to see it working, but there do seem to be some things I don't understand. Help?

I was wondering how to add text myself.
I guess you'll have to use Gimp to add text before you print, it doesn't seem to have any other
features than sizing and printing.
It sure does take a while to print a disk.

Yes, it does. Doesn't matter though, as it's talking to the drive, and the computer is idle. I can't drive the Gimp, I have been using Kolourpaint for this, as it's easy to slide the text around to fit on the disc. Tell me this: Can you add something to the label AFTER you have printed it the first time? Is that what the bar-code looking things on the back around the center are for?

The 4L-gui program will not print for me because it indicates that it cannot find my DVD burner. Any thoughts Joe47

The only problem I can see there, is the jumper settings on your drive are wrong

Do you have an internal or external burner? I had and external that the program couldn't find (I think it has to do with where it gets mounted or the device that it is). Once I took it out and put it internally in the computer it worked fine.

Same thing if I do it as root.

What's funny here is that if I use Lightscribes actuall labeler (text only) then it burns no problem, but I want to put pictures on it. anyone have any ideas? (kernel 2.6.20-r5, gentoo)
