Keyboard use lost for 1 user only on KDE only?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I have FC4 with Gnome and KDE installed. While logged in as root using KDE, I somehow had a stuck key and a dialog box popped up. I click continue without really looking at it. Now I can't type in any application as root in KDE. Other uses in KDE work fine as well as root in Gnome. I tried to remove and re-install all KDE* packages, but I still have the problem.

Any ideas?

Jim A.

You probably accidentally enabled KDE's "Slow Keys" which are activated by holding down the Shift Key for more than 8 seconds. It's intended for disabled persons.

You can disable it either by holding down the Shift Key again for > 8 seconds, or in the Control Center, Regional & Accessbility, Accessibility, in the Keyboard Filters Tab.

Good luck.

The only reason I knew about it is that my 88 year old father-in-law tends to rest his hands on his keyboard; so I've encountered it before ;-)

Glad it worked out ok.
