Kernel version move from x86_64 to i686 in FC6 Possible?

Hey guys, I just want to know if it is possible moving a fresh Fedora Core 6 install kernel version from x86_64 to i686 like if you have the bug and need to switch from i586 to i686.

If this is possible, then how would I go about doing it (is it relatively the same as fixing i586 to i686)? If not, sorry for wasting your time.

I'm asking this as I need to know if I need to waste the time to download the 32bit version of FC6 as I already have the 64bit version iso(s).

It is possible but not advisable nor easy, but one has to remember somethings may not work. The GUI Desktop should work but some applications may not, any 64-bit only installed applications will not work (say firefox for example).

Best idea is to first check if anything is missing beforehand, a test install of the kernel is a good start;

rpm -ivh kernel*.i686.rpm --test
yum install kernel.i686

If this is a fresh install as you say it would be wise to first update the system before attempting a 32-bit kernel installation;

yum update
