OS: Fedora 16

I woke up this morning to a black screen. Ended up hitting the power switch to get it going again.

There's nothing in the logs. It was working find till just after 2:00 am then nothing till the reboot at 9:00 am in the morning.

What is there in Fedora 16 that would allow me to log the error messages, say over the network? I'm assuming it's a kernel panic happening but with a black screen and no logs I have no idea.

When a crash occurs the stack of the running process is printed on the console, but never makes it to disk. You need to have a console open either on the screen, over a serial connection, or over a network connection.

I have a FC16 x86_64 system at home that has crashed twice now. The first time I found that the system had actually crashed and rebooted about 10 times...

I have only one system at home so a serial cable or network cable are not going to help me.

What other options are there?

I could not find any core files. Solaris used to write the core dump to swap and an rc script would notice this during the next boot and copy the file. I don't see anything like this. Am I missing something? There's nothing in /var/log/messages either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
