Question Kernel panic after update with yum

Hello,

I have Fedora 14 installed on a desktop PC, it runs perfectly for about a year until I run yum the last time. Afterward the system hangs after a kernel panic.

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0).

I also tried to hit the ESC key, but it won't go into the grub menu.

Is there a way to fix this panic or do I have to reinstall the whole thing?

thanks for any tip.

There is something quite similar here <http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=262786>
It might be worth looking at.

Cheers,

another idea is
Quote:
vim /etc/grub.conf
and in the line default=0 change and put kernel before update (maybe 1) after restart and all it's ok
