kernel build requirements - do I need them, where to get them
I'm running fedora core 1 with a 2.4 kernel and for various reasons I'd like to try a 2.6 kernel (mostly because I'm on a laptop and I'd like to have power management). I'm following the kernel howto. It lists some kernel requirements.
I'm trying to figure out if there are really essential or if I can safely leave them out, and if I really need them, where I can get them? I'm still missing these required programs: o e2fsprogs 1.29 # tune2fs o jfsutils 1.1.3 # fsck.jfs -V o reiserfsprogs 3.6.3 # reiserfsck -V 2>&1|grep reiserfsprogs o xfsprogs 2.1.0 # xfs_db -V o pcmcia-cs 3.1.21 # cardmgr -V o PPP 2.4.0 # pppd --version o isdn4k-utils 3.1pre1 # isdnctrl 2>&1|grep version o nfs-utils 1.0.5 # showmount --version And this is more of a general question: if I need program x, how do I find out the name of the rpm it is in so I can get it with yum? |
