keeping fedora core 1 uptodate

fedora core 2 is released. it is the talk of the town now, but im still using FC1. i will not be using FC2 as i got to download the iso and burn it to a cd and stuff like that. im quite happy with the way FC1 turn out for me so therefore im keep it in my system. how i update FC1, is it thru fedora legacy project or there is other avenues to keep FC1 uptodate? and also do i need to download some software to update FC1?

thanks and regards

Try using yum.

Don't know if it's as versatile as apt-get is for debian, it's looking like it has potential...but not quite there, but who knows, maybe you can use it.

yum is what fedora uses to update through the RHN applet.. I prefer apt-get on fedora though.... i only use the RHN applet to download stuff that isant avail on the apt repositories yet... but go to freshrpms.net and download apt for fedora core 1...

then install the rpm...

su - to root and eneter password... then type
[ rpm -Uvh /"apt's directory"/apt*.rpm ]

that will install apt on the system... and when it's done...

type apt-get update

this will run checks of all packages you have installed vs. what's available...

then type apt-get dist-upgrade

this will download and install the latest releases for all of the applications you have installed on your system...

if you want to install somethign that you do not yet have...

type apt-get xine or apt-get frozen-bubble or whatever the name of thew app is that you want... i have found apt-get to be very fast and very easy.... good luck...
