Question kde menu editor

Doh, way does nothing every go as planned.

I'm using Fedore Core 2 and wanted to add some applications to my KDE menu. So I fired up the kde menu editor and added in my new submenu and items. I saved and exit the menu editor, but no new submenu appeared ? I even logged out a and logged in again !
I've tried again since and still no joy, any one have any suggestions please ...

Check the directory $HOME/.kde/share/applnk-redhat before and after you use the menu editor to see if something changes there.

That's where your local menu structure is stored (at least in fedora 1 and rh8), every time you create a Submenu, a new directory is created there. The items are stored in .desktop files.

Thumbs down

There's quiet a few in there that don't appear in the menu. But I had a look and it stil didn't create any new items in the menu or change the file system. Strange but when I install a new program say using apt it updates the menu ok.
