k3b coasters, nerolinux ok, fc4

I just bought a pioneer dvr-111d which worked in MS windows but gave me problems in k3b. K3b would write with dvdrw 4x disks but not with memorex 16x disks. I changed the drive to dvr-110d with the same results. I then downloaded nerolinux and I had success with it. I tried to write an image with k3b and at 2x with the result being a coaster. I am using fedora core 4. Any reason why k3b is giving me problems.

K3b doesn't do the actualy burning itself it relies on the command line tools underneath, check ou version for upgrades, updating growisofs improved things quite a bit.

Are you using dvd+ or dvd- disks? Try reducing your record speed to 1. It has been my experience dvd- disks are iffy. You might also see if there is a firmware update for your burner.
