k3b/cdwriter permissions problem

I'm trying to make k3b work for regular nis users on Fedora Core 3.

While it works fine for root, I cannot make it work for regular users. Setting SUID for cdrecord, does not seem to help at all. Changing the permissions on cdwriter /dev/hdc to 777, makes the device visible to regular users, but k3b still fails to write.

Any solutions / tips?

Thanks

K3b depends on cdrecord. See http://cdrecord.berlios.de/old/private/cdrecord.html .

Quote:
Important information: Linux-2.6.8.1 breaks CD/DVD writing for suid root applications

If you have related problems, try to call cdrecord as real root or go back to Linux-2.4
