F7/K3B
Trying to burn a video onto a cd, mspevack-ohio-linux-fest-2007.ogg
but because it is MP3 video k3b won't burn it.
K3B says I need to install a K3B MAD , below is the packages install.
Any help how to burn this video ?

First this is an ogg file not an mp3, second why do you have two version of k3b-1.0.3-2.fc7 and k3b-devel-1.0.3-2.fc7 installed???

Please do: rpm -qa --qf="%{n}-%{v}-%{r}.%{arch}\n" 'k3b*' 'libmad*' | sort

What do you mean by "burn the video"? Do you just want to copy the file onto a disk so you can transfer it elsewhere, or do you want to create a playable cd-video or dvd-video from it? k3b should easily be able to handle the former (just burn the file to a data disk), but the latter takes more effort.

I found the file on the net, and it's in theora format with a vorbis soundtrack. If you want to be able to watch it on a dvd player you'll have to convert it to dvd-compliant mpeg1 or mpeg2 video (and mp2 or ac3 audio) first. Second, cd burners like k3b don't produce watchable dvd-video directly. You can't just drop a video into the VIDEO_TS folder and expect it to play (well, some players are able to handle raw mpeg files, but it's not standard). You'll have to author them first to give them a proper dvd menu system.

I suggest trying tovid or devede. Either of these packages can take most any input video and produce a playable dvd from it in one easy step. They'll even burn it to disk for you.

I found the package K3B-extras-nonfree that k3b needed to burn the video file that was using MP3 format.
Thanks

I'm glad you got it working. But that still doesn't explain how you could "burn" a video that was in "mp3" format, especially since .mp3 is an audio-only format, and the video you listed is actually ogg theora. Not to mention your strange multiple-version k3b setup. Inquiring minds want to know.
