Java Virtual Machine on Fedora Core 2

I've download and installed the .rpm.bin file for the java vm from www.java.com
I've followed the instructions here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.jsp

i installed it at /usr/java/
[ninja@Fedora ninja]$ ls -l /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 root bin 4096 Jun 4 18:30 ns4
drwxr-xr-x 2 root bin 4096 Jun 4 18:30 ns610
drwxr-xr-x 2 root bin 4096 Jun 4 18:30 ns610-gcc32

[ninja@Fedora ninja]$ ls /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins -l
total 28
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 67 Jun 4 18:41 libjavaplugin_ojl.so -> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_ojl.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 22320 Apr 8 05:40 mozplugger.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Jun 4 18:40 ns610-gcc32 -> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32

by default mozilla is installed at /usr/lib/mozilla/ dir right? its mozilla 1.6 by the way. there was only mozilla folder.
My install of fedora is with everything. defaults I have not changed anything that I aware of that would stop my java to work with mozilla.

I checked that the plugin for java is exabled for the advanced settings.
I had the broswer open though while doing the install because i had to follow the instructions from the java website. did anyone else have this similar problem? I didnt get no errors though. just vm not working.

I just used the ones from here:

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/j2re/...2.dag.i586.rpm
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/j2re/...2.dag.i586.rpm

less mess or fuss...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got up to this far...
[root@Fedora plugins]# pwd
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.6/plugins
[root@Fedora plugins]# ls -l
total 2080
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 856 Jun 2 15:34 flashplayer.xpt
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2096844 Jun 2 15:34 libflashplayer.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 67 Jun 6 20:37 libjavaplugin_ojl.so -> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_ojl.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 17300 May 11 14:28 libnullplugin.so
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've made the symbollc link to the /usr/java/........ plugin.. its there I dont know what else could be wrong. I checked that java is enabled under the advacnced settings. but still no work. I can see my flash plughins in that dir. how about if i just add the .so file in that dir? would that work?
