ipod doesn't free up space
i have found out that deleting songs from ipod doesn't free up space. I am using FC17 and gtkpod 2.1.2.
I was looking for a .Trash directory from the mount point, but can`t found it.
gtkpod doesn`t have a trash folder.
any ideas you guys!
thanks in advance
I looked around for you and did some reading-
I read that some ipad's and ipods have a limited storage capacity.
Deleting songs should of freed up space and in your case it didn't-
I wonder if there is something being kept in a registry file on your ipod that is preventing space from being freed?
Depending on who made your ipod you may be able to find the manufacturer's website to be of some help.
6 Tips to Free Up Tons of Storage Space on iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch
Here's a video where a young man used an application to free up space on his ipod.
Here's 4 steps to free up space on your ipod on this webpage
Hope this helps.
thank you guys, but i wonder how to doing it by using linux FC17; may i install iTunes ?
is there a Trash folder to delete inside the ipod ?
thanks in advance
You can ask a fedora questions here:
There could be a trash folder within the ipod but I'm not sure how to check that-
If your ipod's an 'Apple' maybe otherwise I'd check in the booklet that the ipod came with.
If not try the manufacturer's website or call the 1-800 number for support.
Your right schneidz; I can see where being told to purchase a mac could come up and go over like a lead balloon-
Scratch that idea-
I did several Google searches to try to help:
How to configure ipod in fedora 17 was one but that only applied to servers, system proxy's and installation documentation.
I don't get why Fedora is not allowing hDUQUE to be able to install his/her iTunes-
You'd think that there is a work around this-
I'll continue to look; perhaps another Linux user has posted and the iTunes were successfully installed-
Anyway I'm not the expert on this as I just started reading the documentation on Fedora 17 today.
Here's 6 steps to follow but you have to install Wine to do it.
(if not installed do)
Here is the tutorial that one of our members here wrote to assist with the ipod:
Hope this helps
this thread lists a few alternate programs that run natively in linux:
Didn't know about; gtkpod, rhythmbox, amorok and banshee-
If I find anything in the Fedora documentation that will be a help in regard to this I will post it.
i bit out of date so...
when i was using fedora 8 ,9,11 on my even older "nano shuffle "
rythombox can write to the nano BUT as a mass storage device using a "play list"
using GTK-pod to use the apple database
using apples itoons( see below) program on windows XP would WIPE EVERYTHING that was NOT put on the ipod BY apples tool
just plugging it in ( on XP ) was enough to kill off all the music that was installed on it using Fedora
itoons on wine ??????
use Windows 7 for i-toons ( yes the mis spelling in on purpose)
on fedora gtk-pod is recommended
