"IO-Apic + timer doesn't work" neither does noapic!!

Okay, il be straight.. im a complete linux noob. To put it bluntly and I have the problem as the title suggests.

When I run the install dvd it complains about an Apic Timer not working. Doing "Linux noapic" allows the distro to install but when it gets as far as booting it doesn't work. Enabling or using noapic on boot leaves it to hang when it gets to; "Red hat nash version 5.1.19 starting _" Which is extremely frustrating!

I am using the latest release FC-6-x86_64-DVD.iso Downloaded only 2hours ago. ( 6am 29/11/06 ) and my computer specification is:

Motherboard: Abit Fata1ity AN9 32x
CPU: Amd Athlon 64 AM2 3800
Ram: 2x 512mb Crucial Ballistix
Display: 1GB XFX 7950GX2 dual GPU OEM

Any help would be great! And if you need any additional info il try and get it.

Dave

Figured it out; on install I added "Linux acpi=off" and the install ran, and booted up with no problems.
