Installing Software on FC2
I just switched to FC2 after having some problems with Mandrake running on my hardware. Is there an application installer in FC2/KDE that will install downloaded RPM's easily other than the rpm command line ? In other distro's I know I could right-clidk on an rpm and "install" would be one of the options. Even the software installer panel only lets you select from the FC2 cd-roms. Just curious.....
Also, anybody ever get MySQL working when choosing it from the installation options during setup? When I try to run it, I get an error message: Quote:

for rpm's try apt-get. and synaptic is a decent UI for the console based apt-get. very handy. poops all over normal "rpm". but then RPM's are generally a very bad packaging system anyway.
that just sounds liek the mysql daemon isn't running. MySQL isn't a single application, it's a client / server framework, which needs a server (mysqld) running for the client (mysql / odbc etc...) to connect. |
