I had qt installed when i was running fedora core 2. I did a fresh install to fc3 and download the same tar file from trolltech as before (version 3.3.3). Now after running the configure which detects everything ok and I gmake it stops compiling after a few seconds with following message:
In file included from kernel/qtaddons_x11.cpp:25:
kernel/qt_x11_p.h:66:22: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory

gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/qt/src'
gmake[1]: *** [sub-src] Error 2
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/qt'
gmake: *** [init] Error 2
Why doesn't this work anymore?......I understand the error message but what happened to the header files that apparenlty are now missing?
Maybe I'm missing something, or there is an element that's in your post that I do not understand, but when I click on applications - programming - QT Designer : I get QT Designer. Is there a plugin or another program that you need installed alongside Designer? If so, which one?
~also~
I wonder which options you selected when you installed FC3?
Did you do desktop, server, custom(selected) or custom (everything)?
I didn't know that we had designer as an application that came with fc3. I installed custom selected and installed the development tools for programming along with a bunch of others. I have not seen qt as an option in any of the categories.
If I go to add/remove applications, then where will I find the appropriate packages.....and just out of curiosity why is it when I to go my programming folder only nedit and some memory tool appear ( I have xemacs and emacs installed as well and had to create my own launchers)???
This is what I find. I suppose you could look for the qt-designer-3.3.3-8 rpm on your install disk and install that. I do not think that add/remove programs gives you access to all of the rpms that are available on the install disks.
