Installing grub to root not mbr.

need to install grub to the root partion not MBR.
Can I do this in rescue mode with the first install cd??
Tried using upgrade option using the install cd, but
installing to root partition didn't take, probally cause
i didn't reall update anything.

Using fc4 on hda3
Trying to dual boot 2 linux distros.
hda1>>Zenwalk using lilo
hda2>>swap
hda3..fc4 using grub.

tried doing it the other way round using fc4 grub to dual boot
but fc4 kept overwriting MBR and ruining Zens lilo.conf.
Was sugested I use Zens lilo to dual boot, it's easier anyway.
But i can't get grub to install to root partition.
please advise.

You only need one bootloader, why not use Zenwalk's Lilo to boot both????

Hint: have a look at the (possible) /etc/lilo.conf.anaconda file in FC4 for clues.

Maybe this will help; http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~mibe/linux/lilo/user/

uuhhgg!
Thats what i'm trying to do, using Zen to boot both.
But I'm gettint an error when i run lilo >>"Hda3 doesn't have a valid boot partion or sector " or something like that.
Fedora need grub installed to the root partition so Zen's lilo can boot it.
So I'll ask again. How do you install grub to the root partion not the MBR?
using the install disk.

Boot the CD into rescue mode; linux rescue

Answer a few questions and use the chroot command as directed on-screen then do something like; /sbin/grub-install --recheck /dev/hda3
