Install DVD iso on a cd rom

Hello,

I have a DVD ISO file for Fedora 7 which I plan to burn on a dvd and then install it on my laptop. But my laptop on which I want to install Fedora only has a cd rom. Will this work? Will my cd rom have any problems reading the DVD? I would think not since I am not going to play a DVD, I am just using a DVD to install an OS.

If it is just a standard cdrom drive there's no way it will read a dvd disc.

You still have some options.
  1. If you can figure out a way to get that Fedora 7 DVD ISO file into a small FAT32 partition on your laptop's hard drive, you can do a Hard Drive installation from it.
  2. If you have Internet connectivity with your laptop, you can do an FTP or HTTP installation of Fedora 7.
  3. There is the Fedora 7 LiveCD which can also install a minimal system onto your laptop's hard drive. Yum install anything else you need.
  4. There are some "unofficial" Fedora 7 CD ISOs available.

I now install Linuces ONLY from CD, and only with a minimal install---then get everything else thru the package manager. If you have the bandwidth to download a DVD image, then you have the bandwidth to install SW from repositories with the package manager.

I have an FC7 CD---I thought I got it from a Fedora official site....
Edit: OOPS--what I have is #3 above.
