I have all of the Java stuff installed but still cant run .jar applications.
Hi guys. I just installed Fedora and removed Ubuntu. Java 7 worked fine on Ubuntu, and I have all of the stuff for Java 7 on Fedora 19 but still can't run things like the new Minecraft Launcher (it is an executable Jar file). Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

WHAT exactly did you install ?
fedora by default DOSE NOT use Oracles JAVA ! it uses OpenJDK openjdk is what is in the fedora repos and is what is installed using yum ( by default ) now Oracles JAVA 1.7 can be installed BUT you must reset "alternatives" see Mjmwired's page http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...-f19.html#java most things will work with the opensource OpenJDK but not EVERYTHING somethings will need Oracles JAVA 1.7 or the now dead and unsupported Oracles "JAVA 1.6 " Fedora , unlike Ubuntu , will NEVER ship with NON free NON gpl's software no Adobe flash, NO Oracle Java , no mp3, no MS's .wmv , and so on |
How you run Minecraft and what output you get?

Hi there,
well the thing for helping you is that you do not mention what you have done ;) So, for someone to be able to help you will have to tell him/her what have installed? (just like JohnW says above) how are you trying to run this .jar file? were there any error messages when you tried running the .jar file? |
