HP Compaq nx6325, Fedora 8, external monitor
I installed Fedora 8 on my HP Compaq nx6325. Video card: AT Radeon Xpress 1100. Once installed when Fedora 8 loads the loading process--various demons and component programs such as network connection, ending with HAL--the external monitor will show the same picture as the laptop screen. But once the computer gets ready to show the Fedora 8 desktop, the external monitor goes blank or at best shoes a white rectangle which moves when I move the cursor on the desktop screen.
Fn-F4 (which controls the screen in this laptop) does not make a difference. I have tried to correct with with xrandr, radeontools. I have Googled the issue extensively but have found nothing.
I am sufficiently inexperienced in computers not to know what kind of problem this is and where to look for anwers.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Is it the laptop, a driver, what?
Thanks for any help
Richard
