howto get rid of Double Rpm's
I have a lot of double rpms ,but different versions, Is there a way clean out the older
versions without having to do it one at a time. What command would you give to read for double versions of a RPM. Jim |
caer to expand on a "double rpm"? any examples? if it's things like "gtk-1.2.12" and "gtk-2.6.8" then these are different libraries, and perfectly valid...

I follow you on that point but ,I have a lot of double execute rpms that is affecting updating of packages.
When I try updating I get errors about dependencies and I have to go and remove these double rpms with earlier version numbers to be able to get a updates of new packages. You see when you get a bad update sometimes it installs a later version of a Rpm and does not remove the old version. Then you have to go in and remove the old version of a rpm to get another update. Yes it happens in Linux. Jim |
I had this problem with FC2, and you just have to uninstall the old packages and keep the new ones.

yes I agree , but what command do I use to display all the double Rpm's.
Apt/synaptic is a good app to diplay them, but I can't find a apt/synaptic that runs in Fedora4 yet. Does anyone know if GYUM is out for Fedora4 yet? Jim |
Did you try the versions for FC3 from fedoraproject.org. The only problem is that you may not have any apt repositories for FC4 yet.
