How to mount?

Hey hello friends

...I am using Fedora core 6 and i use this command to mount my windows FAT partition
mount -t vfat /dev/hda7 /mnt
it works fine although i have to type it everytime i boot my system is there anyway/command i can do that to make it work everytime the system boots?...i mean like automount or something???
Can i read/write ntfs partitons in linux??can u pls tell me how to do that...and is it safe to do so?? I mean i heard that it damages the hard drive....i dont intend to take ne chances thats y

You can edit your /etc/fstab with an entry similar to this one:

/dev/hda7 /media/windows vfat umask=0,iocharset=utf8 0 0

This should auto-mount the /dev/hda7 at each boot up. You can then access it via the GUI as a user.

You can add a similar entry to mount your NTFS partition ro (read only). Linux will not damage anything on your NTFS partition. I don't mount any NTFS partitions on my system, so I can't give you a proper example on what the fstab entry for that would be. I'm sure someone else will pop in here with some further advice for you.

You can read/write NTFS partitons in Linux by using NFS-3G. It's very safe. In your /etc/fstab file add a line like this:
/dev/hda1 /media/vista ntfs-3g defaults 0 0
After you add this to the fstab file you can type mount -a in a terminal, as root, and that partition will be mounted. It will aslo now mount at every boot.

Hi all,
I have two hard drives as raid1 (mirroring) and windows xp 64 bit installed at ntfs partition, fat partition and fedora core 6.
I cant mount fat partition in /etc/fstab
How can I do this?
