Try installing in text mode (enter "linux text" at the boot prompt), and then configure your graphics card once the system is up and running. To do that you would need to use the "system-config-display" command.

You cannot use graphics mode during the installation and when you boot into the system, it will be in text mode. You will then need to run as root system-config-display and configure your graphics card. If all goes well, you can edit /etc/inittab and change the default runlevel to 5 so that the next time you reboot you start with a GUI.

do u think it's the graphics card?
i mean in the begining the setup says the model that i'm using.
i do admit i found it wierd for a laptop's monitor being a problem.

is XOrg installed even when i install the text mode?

If you select any gui packages during installation, xorg will be installed. I suspect its either the graphics card or the monitor causing problems.

I have the same problem. I can't go beyond the splash screen, and I read this is an issue with the ATI cards. I believe there is a workaround for this. I have not tried the text installation, so I guess I will and see, how that goes. Thanks for posting. I will follow this thread.
