How to install Mono beta 2 on FC2 ?

Has anyone successfully managed to install Mono Beta 2 on FC2 ? - I down loaded the RPMS from go-mono.com, and have been able to install the mono core, but am having trouble installing gtk-sharp.

I know the DAG repositories have a version of mono, but it's very old and I'd much prefer to use beta 2.

Yes, but I'm not using RPM's until next week sometime when they come out for FC2.

Otherwise, compile from source or maybe rebuild the src rpm's. You may find red carpet useful if you plan on using Mono right now. It's an extremely active project and a lot of things still need to be implimented or fixed. The release cycle has been about every month or 2 for almost the past year now, and Mono 1 is slated for this month thou it's likely to be in July after Beta 3 in a few weeks.

Well, theres the answer to your question.... Only a few hours after I posted that they got the FC2 rpm's out.

Thanks... if only I waited one more day! - I managed to install the FC1 RPMS - it doesn't work all too well, however, now that the FC2 RPMS are here I'll remove what I installed and start again!

Crossing distro rpm's is never a good idea unless they are very generic stand alone apps. Compilers and things like mono are far from generic. This is a good habit to stop or never do if you are not sure. Compile and install from source if you need to.

Anyways, when you do correctly install mono as you should... Wait until monday for the wine, wine-devel, winelib preview rpm's. They will be rebuilt to fix a config error. Not a big deal as these rpm's are very beta anyways (a.k.a these will not be fully functional until long after Mono 1). But you won't be able to use windows applications that require windows.forms without it.
