Nor do I understand your problem, but if you're trying to make
global changes in the KDE desktop files, those files may be found in
/usr/share/. On this laptop I have KDE, GNOME and XFCE installed, and the system desktop files are here:
Code:
$ locate -r ^/usr/share/.*desktop$ | grep -o '/usr/share/[^/]*/' | uniq
/usr/share/Thunar/
/usr/share/applications/
/usr/share/applnk/
/usr/share/apps/
/usr/share/autostart/
/usr/share/desktop-menu-patches/
/usr/share/doc/
/usr/share/gdict-1.0/
/usr/share/gdm/
/usr/share/gnome/
/usr/share/hal/
/usr/share/kde4/
/usr/share/locale/
/usr/share/mimelnk/
/usr/share/pixmaps/
/usr/share/services/
/usr/share/servicetypes/
/usr/share/soprano/
/usr/share/sounds/
/usr/share/system-config-boot/
/usr/share/templates/
/usr/share/thumbnailers/
/usr/share/wallpapers/
/usr/share/xfce4/
/usr/share/xsessions/
