Install bittorrent client on your PC
You can get the client from bittorrent website itself.

Then download the iso using the torrent client.

Also try freshmeat.net for torrent client download.
Ive used a graphical client for torrent downloads.

Cheers

Get the Azureus Client here.
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Also why not download FC5 rather than FC3. FC5 is new and stable and is a bleeding edge distro.

I always had trouble getting Java to work on FC3, so Azureus may not be the best choice in this case. Looks like the OP is considering moving away from Fedora, the torrent he listed is for VLOS, which is a distro based on Gentoo.

Hi folks,

FC3
===

Tks for your advice.

I ran;

# yum install bittorrent-gui

to install followin packages;
Code:
Installed: bittorrent-gui.noarch 0:4.2.2-1.1.fc3.rf
Dependency Installed: bittorrent.noarch 0:4.2.2-1.1.fc3.rf python-crypto.i386 0:2.0-1.1.fc3.rf python-khashmir.noarch 0:4.2.2-1.1.fc3.rf
On running it;
K Start --> Internet --> Bittorrent Transfer Tool

File --> Open torrent file --> /path/to/vlos-1.2.1-download_amd64-r2.iso.torrent

The download speed was about 4K/sec, very slow. The FC3 box was connected to 1.5M broadband.

Please advise whether I did something wrong?

Ran "searching for torrents"
Code:
0 Results For vlos-1.2.1-download_amd64-r2.iso.torrent in all torrents

bittorrent relies on your leechers and seeders, leechers are yourself, downloading ,seeders have finished and are uploading, your download speed will rely on the combined upload speed of the 2 so therefore, if there are very few seeders, the speed will be very poor.

Or your ISP restricts the ports

Hi ethics,

Tks for your advice.

I'm now runnig rtorrent-0.4.5-1.fc5 to download Knoppix-5DVD on FC5_64bit box. The download/upload speed ranging betweeen 30KB to 180KB. There is a wide range.

Is there a way to check it. The PC is connected to 1.5M ADSL broadband.

Follow is displayed on Konsole;
Code:
Torrent: 1948.8 / 3972.2 MB Rate: 17.1 /162.5 KB Uploaded:  532.0MB [49%]  0:03:35

[Throtte off/off KB] [Rate  17.1/160.5 KB][Listen :6996]   [U 8/0] [S 0/43/768] [F 1/128]
Please help me to understand it.

TIA
