I am trying to disable 'glx' from loading in, because it causes a complete system crash (including X) when any Mozilla-based software (Firefox, Thunderbird, or SeaMonkey) is launched. Xorg.0.log shows 'glx' being loaded in along with nouveau, the video is: NVIDIA Corporation C61 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller].
An old page whose link was provided to me, indicated to put
Code:
blacklist <driver name>
in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, which did not exist in Fedora 21. This did not work.
On the same link: in /etc/modprobe.conf place
Code:
alias <driver name> off
modprobe.conf also did not exist, but this also did not work.
In both examples above, <driver name> was replaced with
The only way I have found to actually disable it, was to go in the directory where it's located /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/, rename the file to something else, then reboot. Once this was done, the system didn't crash.
Is there a known proper way of disabling glx?
Thanks in advance.
