How do I configure /etc/gdm/custom.conf in Fedora 9?

When I had Fedora 8 I used gdmsetup to configure my login screen. Eventually decided to upgrade my existing installation to Fedora 9, when I did so I noticed that gdmsetup was missing and later I found out that it is being redesigned for Gnome 2.22. So when I navigated to /etc/gdm I found custom.conf, a livna backup of custom.conf and custom.conf.rpmnew. The livna backup of custom.conf and the new custom.conf are identical; however, the the custom.conf.rpmnew is quite different. Here are both of the files:

custom.conf
Quote:

[daemon]

[security]

[xdmcp]

[gui]

[greeter]

GlobalFaceDir=//

GraphicalTheme=FedoraDNA

GraphicalThemes=Aurora_black/:Doe-GDM/:DarkGno/:himmel/:DarkWood/:explosion/:FedoraDNA/:magic-book/:mint-aurora2

DefaultFace=

SoundOnLoginFile=/usr/share/sounds/error.wav

GraphicalThemeRand=true

[chooser]

[debug]

[servers]
custom.conf.rpmnew
Quote:

[xdmcp]

[chooser]

[debug]
Here is the problem, it seems that my custom.conf is not read or something because I still have the same default fedora waves theme login screen. When I moved custom.conf.rpmnew to /root I still had the default fedora waves theme login screen. When I edited my custom.conf.rpmnew file to be identical to my custom.conf file my login window went crazy and turned black. I copied /etc/gdm/custom.conf to /usr/share/gdm/defaults.conf and that didn't seem to change anything. I looked at /usr/share/gdm/themes and it seems all my themes are intact. Anyone know how to resolve this problem? (Oh yes, please note that the smiles are really : D.)

Thanks,
Dave

/usr/sbin/gdmsetup as root when you are logged in?

Or - with some themes you can configure the login-screen right from there (from a menu at the login-screen)

also: files location could be different or has changed between versions... - it is at:
/etc/X11/gdm/
for me (gentoo)

Gnome 2.22 moved this info to the schema file.
